After high school I went to OSU, then to the National
Guard. I met Nancy Andrews, a
friend of Dianne Meaker, in the summer of 1962. She
went to Australia in September of 62, and returned to Pampa in December,
and we were married on December 8, 1962.
We will celebrate our 41st anniversary in December. Nancy & I moved to Borger in August 1964.
I worked for Jerrie Keith Company for 20 years doing sheet metal
work. When business got slow
I went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co.
I retired from Phillips on May 1, 2002 and am loving every minute
of retirement. Nancy & I have one son, Shannon.
He is married to a wonderful girl, Michelle.
They have blessed us with three wonderful grandsons, Jared 6, Ben
4, & Jacob 2. They are
the delight of Mimi & Pops’ life. Shannon
& his family live in Fritch; Shannon works for Phillips and Michelle
is a stay-at-home Mom. She
plans to go back to work when Jacob gets in school. When Shannon was in the third grade I started
coaching third & fourth grade youth football.
This is my 29th year as coach of the Eagles. I hope that I have made a difference in their lives over the
years. I had planned to coach
my grandsons, but they live in Fritch and are Fritch Eagles.
I am going to retire from coaching next year with thirty years, as
I can’t coach against my grandsons. So Nancy & I will be Eagle fans,
changing our colors from Green to Blue and supporting our boys and their
teams and sports that they play. Just
like we did when Shannon got to be a bulldog, we went from green &
gold to red & white. As I stated I love my retirement, it has enabled me
to do things that I want & need to do.
Nancy still works. Her
health has not been good this last year as she had to have triple by-pass
surgery in November. She is
on the road to recovery but has good & bad days.
I don’t know how much longer she will work. Nancy & I are active in our church and also in
Emmaus. I just thank God everyday for all the blessings that He gives us
each day. |
