The big "50" Class reunion!  Again, where does the time go? I am amazed that it goes so rapidly and that we will soon be celebrating again.  We plan to be there if the Good Lord wills.

We are in our 6th year here at Lake Fork and we love it.  I still work at Lake Fork Marina four mornings a week and try to play golf once a week and fish at least every week or so.  I go to work at 5:30 am and get off 12:00 noon. We have our two grandsons, who are now seven and eleven, and we are involved in all their activities.  They are such a joy, along with our daughter, Cyndi, and our son-in-law, Shannon Hassell.

I still teach a couple’s Sunday School class in our church where our son-in-law is the pastor.  This year I am Chairman of the Deacons and serve as a Trustee of our church, First Baptist, Yantis.  Dana, my wife, is our church pianist.  Our life is taken up serving the Lord in His church in whatever capacity He puts us, and with our family and friends.

Some three and a half years ago, I joined a health club to exercise because of the diabetes that I have.  When I would get on the treadmill, I would get sort of light-headed and my jaw (above my top teeth) would hurt.  I thought I might ought to see my family doctor, and he immediately sent me to a heart specialist in Tyler.  Sure enough after all the tests, I had to have by-pass surgery.  They did it immediately the next day.  They planned to do three by-passes, but after they got in there one had already grown a by-pass to itself so they had to do only two.  I was home in about five days, went back to work after about two and a half weeks and haven’t had a problem since.

I think one reason I did so well is that I did not have a heart attack, so my heart was not damaged.  Because we were keyed in on the early warning signs, I think that we caught it in time.  Remember, it is not always chest or arm pain or shortness of breath, etc.  I did not have any of those symptoms. The Lord was gracious to me.  I try to take care of myself, but the diabetes is not easy to deal with.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone and hope we have a good turnout. If you are in our area, give us a call.  We would love to see you. Thanks for everyone who has had a part in all of this and especially Mike and everyone who keeps the website up and running.  Great job!
