My last 45 years have gone
by rather quickly it seems. I
married and moved to Big Spring, Texas.
Our claim to fame is that we are 45 miles from Midland where George
Bush was raised. Actually Big
Spring is a very nice place to live.
I have worked full time for the last 30 years for the same person
taking care of the bookkeeping, etc.
My "fancy" title is Executive Assistant.
It has been a very nice job for me. I was divorced after 29 years of marriage and have done quite a bit of traveling as my job allows. I have a group of lady friends that are either widows or divorced, and we are always finding some place to go. I've been on various cruises and a very nice trip to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The best and most memorable trip was a trip to the Holy Lands, which will always be a wonderful memory. I am thankful to have had that experience before all the problems started. I am very active in my church and am thankful for the many blessings I have. I have two wonderful sons who both live in Big
Spring. My oldest son, Roy
Don, owns his own business - landscaping, pools, and lawn service. Wesley, my youngest son, is beginning a new career as an
agent for State Farm Insurance. I
have wonderful grandchildren Landon 7, Hannah 3, and Payton 2.
They are the "lights of my life" and I spoil them like a
good grandmother should. Wesley's wife Kristi is a very special daughter-in-law and
wonderful mother. I enjoy doing needlepoint work and am just finishing an ornament that will go on one of the Christmas trees at the state capital this December. I enjoy my home and especially working in the yard. Sunshine is plentiful here and I spend as much time soaking it in as I can. I think we, as the class of 1958, were blessed to grow up in Pampa, Texas. During those years we enjoyed a Christian community with very special people in our lives that gave us the values and guidance to be productive. I am very thankful for my life, my family, my friends and especially my God. 50th Reunion Update. They say “Time flies when you are having fun”. Time has flown by for me since our last reunion so guess I am having more fun than ever. Really I am very happy with my life and try to enjoy each day. I am still working for the same man 30+ years. I have worked for him so long that I am totally spoiled and love my job. He is not limited to just doing one thing so every day is always something new. I like multi-tasking so it works well for both of us. I really don’t know what I would do if I didn’t go to work. I have free time if I want and travel so why quit a good thing. My two sons and their families still live here in Big Spring. People will say how nice it is to have your children in the same town and it is. We really don’t spend a lot of time together for everyone is busy with jobs, kids, and other activities. They tell me I am hard to find and I like that because I am thankful they don’t say “here she comes again”. My oldest, Roy Don, owns his own business – landscaping, building pools, lawn service and he does some machine work in his spare time. He and his wife, Pam, live in the country. She teaches science at the Junior High. They both love the country and the animals they have. They are raising Belted Galloway cattle (they look like big Panda bears on four legs) and both love horses. So along with two Jack Russell’s and one dash hound, they stay very busy with jobs and country living. Pam rides in some cutting horse competition when time allows, and Roy Don loves going and visiting with all the people. Says he likes to ride horses but doesn’t want to work at it like Pam does. Wesley also owns his business, State Farm Agency and is involved with inventing a system to go on pump-jacks to provide safety for the workers. His wife, Kristi, is the administrator and part owner of a nursing home here. She is a very good Mom, wife, and just like a daughter to me. They have an apartment complex and other interest so they are busy too. It is nice to have them close even though we are all busy busy. I have three of the most wonderful grandchildren Landon 12, Hannah 9, and Payton 8. Hannah and Payton live here so we get to spend some time together. I have found out that God knew what He was doing when he gave me boys to raise because little girls are a different experience. They are growing up so fast it is amazing. I am glad I don’t have to raise them because spoiling them and then sending them home is really fun. They are really the most talented, beautiful/handsome, smart grandchildren that anyone would be proud of. That sounds like a grandmother ha!… It is so nice to just spoil them and then take them back home. Best of both worlds. |
