After attending two years at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Mike Conway and I married and lived in the Dallas area until we both completed our bachelor's degrees the summer of 1962. I taught school for two years while Mike completed his master's degree. The summer of 1964 we moved to Pasadena, TX, so Mike could begin his seventeen-year career at NASA. In 1965 and 1967 our sons, Ken and Bond were born. After the boys were both in school, I returned to teaching and taught until they completed graduate school. In 1987 we moved to the Pecan Grove Country Club community west of Houston to be closer to Mike's new office as Vice President of a geophysical firm. At the age of 49, I decided I finally had time to pursue some of my personal interests. I started playing serious duplicate bridge during the week with the ladies and began playing tennis. I still play both tennis and bridge at least twice a week including our weekly couples’ bridge club. In 1990, we moved to Las Colinas in Irving to be more centrally located to my sisters and their families. Every Memorial weekend as well as other times during the year we have large family gatherings. While in Las Colinas, we met Phil and Robin McGraw (Dr. Phil). As personal friends of theirs, I participated in mock trials and supervised mirror juries in several cities as needed for Phil's legal consulting firm. Robin and I played on the same tennis teams. We moved to Plano in 1995 where we lived for ten years. In 2005 we moved to Allen where we are in the same subdivision with our sons and their families. It is fun being close to our five grandchildren and being involved in their activities. Our subdivision streets all are named after Texas towns. Our sons, Ken and Bond,. have wonderful memories of their visits to Pampa - so much that Bond built a new house on Pampa Street in Twin Creeks. We’ve traveled extensively internationally since 1989 including some cruises with our bridge friends. We are now content to confine our traveling to the USA. My greatest blessing in life is knowing that Mike, my sons, and precious daughters-in-law are all committed Christians. The highlight of my life each week is attending Cottonwood Baptist Church in Allen, TX. (If I've left out any details, they may be found on Mike's autobiography.) |
