I have lived as full a life as one could live and look forward to the next BIG step - heaven.  The first, best step that I made since high school was marrying LaVada Naylor in 1960.  After putting each other through college, we raised two boys who are quite successful in their own computer businesses and are now enjoying our 5 grandkids - 3 boys and 2 girls.

My master’s degree in math thrust me into a 17-year career with NASA in Houston as an aerospace engineer.  During this time we lived in Pasadena, TX for 22 years.  I had my 2nd birth, my  Christian birth, when I was 21, and the Lord really changed my life.  I changed careers at the age of 41 and became a geophysicist as a VP of Professional Geophysics, Inc.(PGI) in Houston. (If you want to hear an amazing story ask me about this!).  Then in 1987 another VP of PGI and I started our own very successful geophysical company.  Selling my part of the company to him in 1990, I retired.

LaVada and I moved to the Dallas area where one of our sons lived at the time, as we wanted to be more central to all of our relatives for gatherings.  That, too, was a great decision, for our home has become a family gathering place for some holiday events. We have more than 20 loved ones gather each Memorial Day and lesser amounts at various times during the year.  Both sons and their families live in our same subdivision, only several minutes away, so babysitting and helping with “fix up and yard chores” is part of the joy of my life.

We attend and serve the Lord at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Allen where I am the substitute Bible teacher (taught for 33 years).  I am very active playing tennis, softball (retired from this in 2006), bridge, yard work, skiing, reading, working crossword puzzles, and just about anything dealing with computers. I gave up golf a couple of years ago due to an inability to control a wrist jerk when the "pressure is on".  Another active hobby of mine is using my photo software along with my digital camera and making effective displays from them - restoring them, making collages, recropping them, adding backgrounds, adding cartoons and verbiage, etc.

Everyone who keeps up with emails and our website knows that this must be one of my hobbies ... and they're right.  I enjoy doing what I do to keep up with current information on our classmates.

LaVada and I have traveled extensively but mostly through cruises.  We’ve cruised both the Mediterranean and the Baltic seas, sailed across the Pacific to Hawaii, cruised the Panama Canal and the Caribbean, sailed to Alaska and have visited many countries in Europe as well as Cairo to see the pyramids and sphinx.  A big highlight for us was our tour of Israel (1990) with the popular author and pastor, Hal Lindsey, as our tour guide.

My claim to fame is that we are friends with Phil and Robin McGraw.  The nation has come to know him as “Dr. Phil”.  We played a lot of tennis together when we lived in Irving, Texas. We even had a session in our home of teaching them to play bridge.  One day he asked if I’d be a judge in his courtroom for his company called Courtroom Sciences, Inc.  I ended up working for him for 3 years in the early 1990s both as a judge and to help analyze court cases.

I developed a heart problem in 2006 called continuous atrial fibrillation.  This malady caused my energy level to plummet to near zero in a short span.  Not wanting to curtail my lifestyle, I had a heart operation called mini pulmonary heart catherization in October of 2007.  I am now completely healed so that only my age is curtailing my energy!

I'm looking forward to our 50th!

Mike
