Thanks to Mike, Joy, Loyd and everyone else who has helped with this 1958 reunion project.  It’s a lot of work and we appreciate you!  It has been great to read about all of the exciting and interesting lives of our classmates.

After graduation from PHS, I attended McMurry College in Abilene.  I married after my freshman year, graduated in 1961 with a BS degree in education and began teaching second grade in Garland, TX.  With 5 years of teaching behind me, I resigned to have my children, Jonathan (now 37) and then Cathy (now 34).  We lived in Abilene, Dallas, Lubbock, Midland, Big Spring and then El Paso, where my marriage ended in divorce.

Coming back to the panhandle was made possible by getting a 6th grade teaching position in Canyon, where I taught science for the next 23 years.  During that time I met and married Eddie Holcomb, who has a married son, Glen.  We have had 22 wonderful years together sharing the joys of children, grandchildren (5 boys and 2 girls), extended families, friends, and church … oh and eating out!!!!  We have been fortunate in being able to travel abroad, cruise a few times, and visit our children in Ruston, LA, College Station, and Plano.

I retired from teaching in May 2002, and Eddie retired as CFO of Irwin Greenhouses in August 2002.  We adjusted rather quickly.  Although he still does some consulting work and I take art lessons and yoga, we have plenty of time to continue our travels, work in the church, eat out and enjoy our family.

I look forward to seeing you in September.  After viewing all of the recent pictures of everyone, I don’t think I will recognize many of you.  Hope our nametags have our high school pictures on them!

2008 Update for the 50th Reunion

Our children and grandchildren are 5 years older now and so are we! Time passes fast when you are retired.  Two years ago a friend and I took over a yoga studio from the owner who was moving to Oregon. We have 6 classes a week, and I will be certified before the end of summer. It has been so much fun!.

Our children still live far away in Ruston, LA, Plano and College Station, but we see them often and talk on the phone. Eddie and I just celebrated our 27th anniversary and had a wonderful celebration for our 25th in Dallas with ALL of our kids and grandkids. That was the best part, and we had a wonderful picture make of the entire clan. Then we went to Australia and New Zealand on a cruise with friends. Wow, I never dreamed that I would ever be able to do that!

We continue to do volunteer work at the church, drive for Meals on Wheels, and other services. We are thankful for each day God gives us.  This scripture has been special to me: "Thanks be to God for gifts beyond words." 2 Corinthians 9:15
Look forward to seeing you in September.
