In the last 45 years I have lived a pretty uneventful life and by my perspective a successful one.  I have had one husband, Glen Fleming, and we have raised 3 kids.  My goal was to raise my children to be God fearing self- sufficient members of society, and I have accomplished that.  I have good health and have had no major operations or illnesses, but I have noticed that my memory isn’t as good as it once was.

We moved from Pampa thirteen years ago to Amarillo.  I retired in December 2002 from a demanding job, and we sold our ranch.  Now I am free to enjoy my grandchildren and travel.  I am very involved in my children and grandchildren’s dreams and pursuits.   We have a daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren that still live in Pampa.  Their son is a senior and plays football and runs track for the Harvesters.  Their daughter is involved in competition dancing.  Our other daughter and son-in-law live in Midland, Texas.  They have two adopted children, a son from Romania and a daughter from Russia.   Our son lives not far from us, still isn’t married and has just completed his MBA from WTA&M.

I am still finding my balance after working long hours for many years, but I have all my hobbies to keep me busy.  I oil paint, sew, travel, and spend many hours on the computer.  I am writing my memoirs for my grandkids about growing up in a different time.   I also would like to check out lots more highways.   Lastly, I am planning to pursue golf again after many years’ hiatus.

I feel very fortunate to have been raised in Pampa, Texas during the 1950’s.  I think that was a great time and place to be a teenager.

50th Reunion Update - August 2008

Nothing in my life except my faith in God prepared me for the years since our last reunion. First I lost my husband of 46 years suddenly to a heart attack. Then it was necessary for me to become the caregiver for my only living uncle. I moved him from his home in Florida to Amarillo so that I could care for him. He died a year ago. Since that time, I have lost my first great grandbaby to SIDS and one of my son-in-laws to a heart attack. Each of these deaths that came with no warning has reinforced to me that we have no real control over our lives. Our time on earth comes from God, and I thank him for each new day.  I am blessed with good health, a close family, great friends, and a loving God. What more does a person need?

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our 50th reunion. I remember when my dad got the invitation to his 50th reunion. I told him that he had to go because hardly anyone lived to be that old. Here we are, “that old.” It feels good, doesn’t it!!!
