Melvin Thomas Chisum

Melvin Thomas Chisum, 41, of Duane died Jan. 4, 1982 in Vermont Medical Center, Burlington. 

Born in Pampa, Tex., Jan. 6, 1940, he was a son of Leonard E. and Marcella Haney Chisum.  He served in the United States Air Force and was a professional golfer and played the Professional Golf Association (PGA) tour.  He also worked at the Golf Club on Plattsburgh AFB and Bluff Point Golf and Country Club at Plattsburgh. 

On July 8, 1964, he was married to the former Gloria Earle of Malone.  She survives.  He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church; Northeastern New York PGA, Montreal Hunting Dog Club and Chester, Ont. Dog Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Marcella Chisum of Bella Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Kimberly Ann, 16, and Michelle Lynn, 15, and a son, Craig Thomas, 12, all at home; and one brother, Joseph Chisum of Knowlton, Que.

Friends may call at the Spaulding Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held in the chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Simmons officiating.  Burial will be in Duane Cemetery.
