Thomas Michael Mullins, a resident of Beaumont, Texas formerly of Odessa, Texas died Thursday July 31, 1997 at home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Olney, Illinois on January 4, 1940.
He was married to Brenda C. Mullins in Amarillo, Texas on October 13, 1986. He was the father of Chris Mullins of Dallas and Leslie Coffman of Amarillo. Tom had the honor of being loved by four brothers, Ron of Amarillo, David of Woodward, Oklahoma, John of Chesterfield, Missouri and Marc of Austin.
Thomas was a kind and giving man who will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He gave freely of his time to the Chuck Wagon Gang of Odessa, Texas and numerous organizations related to the oil industry during his years in Odessa.
A memorial service will be held on Monday August 4, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas. There will be a visitation between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday August 3, 1997 at the funeral home.
Additional information from an email interview with John Terry, Tommy's younger brother. Tommy died of throat cancer while living briefly in Beaumont, TX, having moved from Odessa, TX. An older brother of Tommy's, Ronnie, has also passed away from lung cancer.
Since no mention was made of Tommy's years in Pampa, John said that his Dad was in the oilfield business and moved to Pampa in early 1942. Tommy attended all 12 years of his schooling in Pampa ... Woodrow Wilson, Junior High (with the red-brick building) and high school. He moved to Amarillo in the 1963-1964 timeframe and went to work for TWA airlines. He married a woman in Amarillo and had a son named Chris. After that marriage broke up he later married Brenda.
Tom was a district manager for Smith & Thompson Industrial Supply and was very active with the Chuck Wagon Gang in Odessa. They cooked for charitable organizations all over the country. He was also an avid golfer that carried a one handicap for several years. He was a guy that loved his family and friends with all his heart.
